Yet another actor is returning from Avatar to play in at least some of the planned four sequels.
Deadline reports that Dileep Rao will reprise his role as Dr. Max Patel in James Cameron’s Avatar sequels.
Other actors returning include Sam Worthingtom, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, and Giovanni Ribisi. Notable newcomers include Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, and Cliff Curtis.

It’s been a long time since I saw Avatar, but did ANYONE actually die in that movie? I mean, I know Sigourney Weaver did, but even that was undone at the end or something? Like I said, it’s been years since I saw it, and I never liked it. But, on with the news…
Avatar 2 and 3 are being shot back-to-back, with 20th Century Fox officially going into production on the first batch last September. After the release of Avatar 2 in December 2020 and Avatar 3 in December 2021, production will begin on Avatar 4 and 5 for releases in 2024 and 2025 (if the world still exists… and people still care about Avatar).
Though I don’t remember him at all in Avatar, Rao was quite memorable in Christopher Nolan’s Inception and also appeared in Sam Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell.
Do you remember Dr. Max Patel better than I? Are you excited for this particular character to return? Or are you over Avatar altogether? Let us know in the comment section below!
Avatar 2 is set for release on December 18, 2020.
