Jeff Loveness, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer teases Namor and taking his inspiration from the comics. Loveness who wrote Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is also penning the next Avengers movie. Whilst Loveness doesn’t give any spoilers, he does offer a small tease that Namor will at least be in the movie. It’s not much, but in a recent interview with ComicBook Loveness dropped this line about what he’s excited for in the future.
“Namor, man. I’m excited to write Namor.”
Given the only movie we know Loveness is tapped to write is The Kang Dynasty? Well, we can kinda put two and two together here. However the writer did then go into some of his inspirations for The Kang Dynasty. For Loveness it’s about the comic books origins, rather than taking inspiration form previous Avengers movies.
“Oh man. I think the Avengers movies … I’d almost go more for the comics. I mean, because the movies have been so fantastic, obviously. But I think Avenger comics are really cool because literally every issue opens with that credo of, “And there came a day unlike any other.” And so the impetus of an Avengers movie or story is like, this is a day where we need these guys, and this is a threat that we cannot handle alone. And this is a seismic shift in the world. This is a generational event. And our old generation is gone or retired or scattered. So it compels a new generation to step up.”

I’ve no doubt there will be plenty of older Avengers steeping up. However perhaps none of the OG from the first movie this time? We’ve heard rumors that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be the lead actor of the movie i.e. the most screen time etc. However, it’s more likely the actual leaders of the Avengers will be Sam and Carol (I’d guess).
The only possible OG Avengers that could show up are Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye. Given Renner’s current situation healing from an accident I doubt we see Hawkeye. Thor or Hulk could easily show up. They hear there’s a threat, and they just show up. However, I’m more hopeful that those guys might get kept back for Secret Wars. Let’s give the newer members a chance this time.
