Bane Was Reportedly ‘Unavailable’ For A Solo Film, Is He Being Saved For The Batman?

Bane in Peacemaker Rumor Debunked By James Gunn

Matt Reeves’ The Batman began production around the same time that Betty White entered high school. Since then, fans of the Caped Crusader have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the Bat’s next big-screen adventure. Ok, I may have exaggerated just a bit, but I’m sure most of you get the point.

It was a long time before we even heard any casting news about the film. Now, we have Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and a few villains played by the likes of Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farell as Penguin, and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. This week, Heroic Hollywood reported that, not long ago, there was to be a pitch for a Joker-like solo film for another popular Bat villain, Bane.

Word then got around that the pitch would be dead on arrival, due to the villain being off-limits. This sparked talk that the breaker of the bat’s back could be unavailable due to a possible appearance in The Batman. Again, this information comes from Heroic Hollywood ‘s inside source.

As much as I’d like to see Bane back on the big screen, the film is already starting to seem a little crowded. Remember what happened last time with too many villains? While that was only one problem of many for the just awful George Clooney-led film that shall remain nameless, it definitely made a large contribution to the film being terrible.

However, the Russo brothers proved it is possible to manage a large group of popular characters. The upcoming film is set to feature a gallery of rogues so Reeves may very well not be done adding villains. With filming set to resume soon,  the flow of information should return as well. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we get word from Reeves that his villain list is full.
