After months of leaks and rumors about Margot Robbie’s highly anticipated Barbie movie, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a poster and a teaser trailer! The iconic Mattel fashion doll debuted in 1959 at the American International Toy Fair in New York. Check out the teaser and the first official poster below!
Barbie‘s teaser trailer uses the iconic sounds from the 2001: A Space Odyssey to re-introduce the world to Robbie as Babie. In a clever move, she is wearing that famous black and white swimsuit. The font throughout the film is the traditional one we are used to seeing associated with the doll. It shows the way the doll revolutionized the way girls played with dolls as they moved from traditional baby dolls to well… Barbie in a very comical way.

Being it was a teaser trailer there wasn’t too much. But we did see the brightness and cheesy style that the film is bringing to the big screens next summer. It was plain and simply fun. We see quick glimpses of Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, and Issa Rae, as well as some of the other characters.

It will be interesting to see how this film does for general audiences. Will it be attractive to both a young audience as well as older folks? But I do think that the star power of Robbie is going to help this film a lot as she is beloved as the DC villain, or ant-hero (whatever it is these days) Harley Quinn.

Barbie is being directed by Greta Gerwig. The producers on the film are David Heyman, Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Robbie Brenner. It was written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.

Warner Bros. Pictures Barbie will be only in theaters this summer premiering on July 21.
