Today we share a report from The Illuminerdi that says we should expect to see Bariss Offee in Ahsoka. Let’s look at what the outlet says before we discuss further.
‘According to our sources Star Wars: Ahsoka is looking to cast Barriss Offee. She is listed as a lead character in her 20-30 and they are looking to cast an Asian woman for the role. In The Clone Wars, Barriss Offee was voiced by Meredith Salenger and played by Nalini Krishan in Attack Of The Clones.’
However, there is something that feels at odds with this report for me. Whilst Bariss Offee showing up wouldn’t be that much of a shock, I don’t think it matches that casting call. If I was to guess who was being cast in the role described above, I would say Sabine Wren. Sabine, most fans expect to be Asian, and the age would match that character in this timeframe. Bariss on the other hand is ages with Ahsoka herself, i.e. in her 40’s by the time of The Mandalorian.
So I’m not saying what the outlets sources told them was incorrect, I don’t know. It sounds plausible to me as I’ll discuss below. However, I can only give my opinion that I don’t think it matches that casting call. Which, again to me only, sounds more like Sabine Wren. Bariss might make sense as a character in Ahsoka. However, Sabine is somewhat expected in the show given how the epilogue of Rebels went down. See where I am coming from?

As for Bariss, she and Ahsoka definitely have a connection, and perhaps some unfinished business. Both are former Jedi who left the order, however in different circumstances. Ahsoka was betrayed by Bariss who allowed her old friend to take the heat for a bombing plot on the Jedi Temple within The Clone Wars. Anakin Skywalker discovered Bariss was the one who really plotted against the Jedi and she was taken away by guards. Bariss was disillusioned by the Jedi’s involvement in the Clone Wars. However, Ahsoka was disillusioned by the Jedi’s willingness to blame her for what Bariss did.
You can see the connection. A meeting between Bariss and Ahsoka would create drama and drama is storytelling. Bariss would also prove a fitting opponent for Ahsoka if it came to blows. Some fans have even speculated that post-Order 66, The Emperor may have taken an interest in this Jedi prisoner, or perhaps Vader himself. Anakin certainly knew where Bariss was, and we do have Vader’s inquisitors active during the Imperial years. Would Offee who was already a Jedi be too much of a threat to allow to live? If she did turn to the Darkside, would she have survived after the fall of the Sith and the Empire?
Intriguing questions, but I have no answers for you. Like all rumors we will just have to see how this one pans out. That could be some time as currently we still have no date for when Ahsoka goes under cameras. What do you think of this Bariss Offee in Ahsoka rumor? As always, leave us your thoughts below.
