It has been announced that Bear McCreary scored The Rings of Power with Howard shore composing the main theme for the show. As reported by Deadline.
As San Diego Comic-Con gets underway, the fan boy crowd can revel in Amazon Studios confirming what Deadline told you a long time ago: Howard Shore, 3-time Oscar winner for his work on The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, has returned to compose the original main title theme for its blockbuster $465 million series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. At the same time, Emmy-winner Bear McCreary has composed the full episodic series score.
Some fans seem a little unhappy shore is not composing the entire score. However McCreary has done a lot of solid work himself, especially in Battlestar Galactica. If you want to check out a couple of samples of McCreary’s score, then Amazon Music has two tracks up for preview, one called Galadriel, and called Sauron. I personally loved the Sauron track, however I am keen to hear Shores main theme for the show.

SDCC is here and we should be getting the first full trailer for The Rings of Power. Well, we don’t know if it’s a trailer? It was listed as an ‘exclusive early look’. Either way it seems as though more footage than the recent teaser listed above will be shown.
So far when it comes to the visuals and the score, The Rings of Power looks great. Of course, the real test will come this September when we get to watch it for ourselves.
What do you think of the news that Bear McCreary scored The Rings of Power with Howard Shore only scoring the main theme? Have you listened to the tracks yet, what did you think? As always, share any thoughts below, or over on Discord.
