Benedict Wong Confirms He Is In Doctor Strange 2 – As If There Was Ever Any Doubt

Was there ever any doubt in anyone’s mind that one character who would definitely be back for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be Wong, aka actor Benedict Wong? Probably not, it was about as much of a sure thing as you could get. Though officially the only actors confirmed for this movie till now were Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role and Elizabeth Olson as Scarlet Witch.

However, Benedict Wong has now confirmed he is definitely in the Doctor Strange sequel. The actor spoke with Collider about some of his upcoming movies and said the following with regards to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“I did tweet Scott just to kind of confirm, ‘Am I in this?’ And he said yes, I am. So, that’s good to know. We’ll see what happens.”

And when asked if he knew much about the movie before it was announced at SDCC this year Wong said,

“I didn’t know the title, but I had a few little inklings.”

Talking about titles, I had to admit it’s already getting old typing out Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Petition to just refer to as Doctor Strange 2 from now on, Ed? No, oh well, a man can try. As said at the top, we all knew Wong was back in this, he had to be, I’d also guess that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be back as Mordo also.

We still know next to nothing about the movie other than what we can glean form the title and the fact Scarlet Witch is in this as well. This also follows on very closely time-wise from WandaVision, and with Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch involved, one does wonder if something will happen in the Disney+ show which causes Doctor Strange to get involved? WandaVision is due to hit around Spring 2021, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hitting theaters on May 7th, 2021. It just seems like a bit of a coincidence that both Wanda vehicles will be released so close together for it not to all be connected.

Last time we saw both Wong and Strange it would be fair to say that Wong was the superior sorcerer, but I do wonder how much more advanced Strange will have become as we move into this movie. After all, he will become the Sorcerer Supreme, and he did kinda manage to orchestrate the defeat of Thanos and save half of the Universe, not bad for a start.

What do you think of Wong’s comments, are you completely blown away by the fact he’s back like us? Master the metaphysical arts in the usual spot below.
