It’s almost here! After suffering that New Line Cinema adaptation of The Golden Compass back in 2007 (though I know the filmmakers were well-meaning, the studio’s constrictions really didn’t help), His Dark Materials fans are finally getting a second shot at seeing this series actually make it to a screen of sorts, big or small. Really, we just want to see it realized as a narrative with actors on a screen.

We still have a couple of weeks until the show finally starts airing on BBC and HBO, but BBC has just released a new clip from the hotly-anticipated fantasy show. Check it out below.

I will say that Dafne Keen and Ruth Wilson wonderfully embody the roles of Lyra and Mrs. Coulter. Hilariously enough, in the interview that follows, Keen seems pretty nervous and has already put it out there that not everyone will be satisfied with the show — though it clearly comes from a place of emotional self-preservation, which is pretty smart on her part.

His Dark Materials hits HBO on November 4, 2019 in the U.S. and BBC on November 3.
