“Bird Box” was a bit hit for Netflix in 2018. The post-apocalyptic horror thriller film starred Sandra Bullock and was directed by Susanne Bier. Bullock plays a character named Malorie Hayes that is going through a world that is filled with some sort of creatures or entities that make people that look at them, kill themselves.

Now five years later, we get an international spin-off in Spanish that takes place in Barcelona. Filmmakers, Alex and David Pastor wrote and directed “Bird Box Barcelona”. Netflix has released a trailer for the film that you can check out below.

“Bird Box Barcelona” looks like a great follow-up to the original. By the looks of it, the film is going to show us a lot more of the days when people were still trying to figure out what was going on. From there we’ll see some of the characters navigate through this newly destroyed world with evolving creatures.

The Netflix film stars Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, Patrick Criado, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia.

Executive producers for the film are Susanne Bier, Josh Malerman, Ryan Lewis, Ainsley Davies for Chris Morgan Productions, and Brian Williams for Dylan Clark Productions.

Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s “Bird Box Barcelona”

From the producers of the global phenomenon, Bird Box, comes BIRD BOX BARCELONA, an expansion of the film that riveted audiences in 2018. After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.

“Bird Box” was based on the same-titled novel written by Josh Malerman.

Netflix‘s “Bird Box Barcelona” premieres on July 14 exclusively on the streamer.
