According to the new listing from Production Weekly, Blade is rumored to begin filming this Fall, finally! The saga of the Blade movie has been a lengthy one. It was now years ago that Mahershala Ali was announced as the MCU’s Blade in a movie of the same name. However, several factors have combined to result in massive delays to this movie filming.
The real main culprit for the delays is that Marvel were not happy with the script or direction being taken. Rumor is, neither was Ali himself enamoured with the script. Several new writers were brought in to retool the tale. However, during that time we also had the actors and writers strikes to add into the mix. The result is that the last we heard, Marvel hoped to film Blade this year.

PW is a fairly reliable outlet for production dates, normally meaning space has been booked at a studio. However, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that this can still be changed and has been in the past.
As for script details, given the rewrites it’s tricky to say what will have changed. One of the more recent rumors we heard said that the movie was no longer a period piece. Then, if we go back to older rumors it was said that the title Blade would refer not only to Blade, but also the Ebony Blade. If you recall the Eternals post-credit scene, we hear Ali’s voice as Blade warning Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington) not to touch the Ebony Blade. However, that could perhaps have all be scrapped for all we know?
For now we shall just have to wait and see. If however filming does begin this Fall, then Marvel must finally have a script they are happy enough with to commence production. As per usual, once production does begin we’ll start to hear a few more accurate rumors.
