The climax of Dawnshard is nigh!

Are you sitting in your seats, still eagerly awaiting the release of the fourth Stormlight Archive book, Rhythm of War? Well, don’t forget that that’s not all we have to look forward to. Prior to the release of Rhythm of War, we will be able to read Dawnshard. This novella will be made available for fans in October. While it’s unclear how it will connect to the novels, we do know it will at least follow the Thaylen merchant Rysn and Bridge Four member Lopen.

Over the past few weeks, Sanderson has given readers an update on the progress of the novella, and he continued doing such on Tuesday. 

“Working on the climax of Dawnshard across the next few days,” Sanderson wrote. “Possible I will have it done by the time we stream on Thursday. (And yes, contrary to what I said last week, there will be a stream this week. Some signature pages are due next week, so I need to get them done.)”

Okay, so first off, it’s cool that Sanderson is approaching the climax of Dawnshard. Given how long his books normally are, it must be amazing to just blow through a 40,000-word book like it’s nothing. That being said, Sanderson’s statement isn’t quite clear. Is he stating that the book will be done by this Thursday or that the climax will be done? 

We will have to wait for that stream to find out. Either way, Sanderson is nearing the end for the first draft. Of course, he’ll have to go through the revisions process next, but given his speed, I imagine it’ll take just a few weeks to iron out. This means it’ll be ready to go in the next month or so just as it needs to be pushed out the digital door in ebook form.
