If there was any doubt that author Brandon Sanderson wouldn’t be hitting the deadline for his latest Stormlight Archive entry, Rhythm of War, you can put it to rest. The fourth volume of the epic fantasy series has officially been put to bed. This past Saturday, Sanderson himself finished up work on this novel and took to Twitter to share his progress.

“And…done!” the author wrote. “ As I wrap up my work tonight, I have finished the final draft of Rhythm of War, Book Four of the Stormlight Archive. Looking great!  I’m excited to share it all with you.”

In addition to sharing his progress on the novel itself, Sanderson also promised looks at the book were forthcoming.

“Book release is in November, but we will be doing preview chapters soon,” he said.

Sanderson didn’t say how he’d release these preview chapters. That being said, there are a few possible ways he’d share. Last week, Sanderson shared an exclusive piece of fiction following Syl to his newsletter. I honestly don’t know whether or not that in and of itself was from Rhythm of War, but his newsletter is clearly one avenue things could be shared. The other few ways I expect they’ll be shared are through his publisher’s site, his own, or a third-party site like ours. 

Regardless, I hope you have November 17 marked on your calendars, because Rhythm of War will be hitting in full hardcover right around then. Sanderson didn’t state what the length of the book was, but based on previous figures, around 450,000 words (around 1,200 hardcover pages) does seem like a real possibility.
