Bridesmaid Sequel? Director Paul Feig Weighs In

It’s crazy to think that Universal Studios’ Bridesmaids is already over 7 years old since it’s release. It was directed by Paul Feig and it starred Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey. It grossed $26 million on it’s opening weekend and went on to make over $288 million worldwide and has become a favorite among viewers.

With that said, could there be a chance that we can a Bridesmaid 2 anytime soon? Thanks to Variety we have an answer from Feig himself during the premiere of his new movie A Simple Favor on which premiered on Monday at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. When asked if he would ever consider directing a sequel to Bridesmaid Feig said that, “I don’t know if there will be one honestly. That movie worked so well because it was about a woman having a crisis in her life and fixing it. So you don’t want her to have another crisis.”

Seems like we will not be getting another Bridesmaid film. But Feig does offer a very good reason. A lot of our classic favorite films go on to be ruined by forced sequels that end up flopping. An alternative to a Bridesmaid sequel would be to make another film that feature some of the same cast. So for now if your a fan of Bridesmaid, you’ll just have to stick with the original.
