After decades and decades, it seems like news of Nintendo properties actually making it to the big screen is starting to spread. Last we heard, Nintendo was likely set to make an animated Mario film with Illumination Entertainment, rumors are abound regarding Adi Shankar creating a series based on The Legend of Zelda, and now, we have a little tidbit regarding another big franchise: Metroid.
Actress Brie Larson — Captain Marvel herself — recently took to Instagram, showing off her Halloween shenanigans, where she dressed up as Samus Aran in her Zero Suit. For those who don’t know, Samus is the protagonist in the sci-fi series Metroid, which features a tone not unlike the Alien franchise, directed by Ridley Scott. Anyways, check out the image below:

One Twitter user, upon seeing her in this outfit, went on to say this was probably the closest we’d be getting to an actual, live-action Metroid film, to which Larson replied:
“I hope not. I want to make that movie.”

That’s right. Brie Larson wants to make Metroid, and while she doesn’t explicitly state it, the implication is that she wants to play the lead Samus Aran. As someone who has waited decades to see a film like this become a reality, I would be all for this casting choice. While we haven’t seen her performance in Captain Marvel, her being cast is an indication that she has some real franchise appeal, and seeing her take on the stoic bounty hunter would be super cool.
But is a good Metroid film possible? It features a world best suited for a slow, meditative movie, but I have a concern that Hollywood would try to make it too action-oriented. What do you think? Would you like to see a live-action Metroid film starring Brie Larson? Let us know down below!
