Brightburn: Trailer From James Gunn’s Latest Shows Superman-Esque Story Gone Wrong

Do you know what happens when the alien savior turns about to just be a nightmare from the stars? A trailer has just been released for the James Gunn-produced flick, Brightburn, which tells a kind of twist on the superhero genre.

The synopsis certainly sounds like a take on the Man of Steel character:

“What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? In this horrific take on the classic superhero trope, a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) adopts a baby who came from the stars. While they attempt to raise the boy (Jackson A. Dunn) to use his powers for good, an evil begins to grow inside that he unleashes.”

This is exciting. Is there any director attached to a Superman film? Because this feels like an Elseworlds thing. Now that Gunn is writing Suicide Squad 2. Could there be any chances we’d see Gunn’s vision for Superman? Just speculating. So what do we know about Brightburn thus far? It’s based on an original idea from Gunn and his brother Brian, and cousin Mark. My question now, is what happens if this film is massively successful? I mean is there room for a demented, dark, and caped villain who happens to be a millionaire playboy? This could open a whole new world of characters.

I’m all sorts of amped to watch this when it hits theaters. I know where I will be this Memorial Day 2019.
