Biographies can be a tricky business. When telling the story of someone’s life, there’s always bound to be someone out there who’s either unhappy with how an anecdote is told or that there is a completely fabricated one being portrayed. Very often, this comes from either the living subject or the surviving loved ones. This seems to be the case with an upcoming book on the late, great Carrie Fisher.
Apparently, author Sheila Weller is publishing the book Carrie Fisher: A Life on the Edge, and it was created without the knowledge of Fisher’s surviving family.

Bryan Lourd, father of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, issued a statement on both his and Billie’s behalf disavowing it (via Deadline).
“A person named Sheila Weller has taken it upon herself to sell and write an unauthorized biography based on my daughter’s mother, Carrie Fisher.
I do not know Ms. Weller. Billie does not know Ms. Weller. And, to my knowledge, Carrie did not know her.
Ms. Weller sold this book on her own without our involvement.
For all the fans and friends of Carrie, I just thought it necessary that you know this information before you decided to purchase this book or consider what is being said in the upcoming press interviews Weller will do while trying to sell it.”
Carrie Fisher: A Life on the Edge is set to hit bookstores on November 12, 2019 and is being pitched as “a remarkably candid biography of the remarkably candid—and brilliant—Carrie Fisher.”
