Castlevania’s Belmont Family Heads To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

This morning saw Nintendo releasing the long-awaited Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, which gave us tons of new details regarding the blockbuster fighting game.

Nintendo didn’t waste any time with their presentation. It started off with poor Luigi making his way through an unspecified castle. Per usual, the plumber was scared out of his wits, and things didn’t get better when a Grim Reaper began attacking — one that even succeeded in killing him. Though he was a bit late, Simon Belmont came to the rescue, wielding his trademark whip.

But Simon isn’t the only Belmont making his way to the game. We also saw Richter Belmont join the fray. Richter first made his appearance in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, but he also returned in what is arguably the best game in the franchise, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. His character will be an echo fighter of Simon, but will feature unique voice and animations.

In addition to the new playable characters, the game also features a Dracula’s Castle stage that is being touted as their darkest. Of course, it features plenty of nods to the franchise — including Dracula himself — but it also boasts a whopping 34 music tracks, including new and classic tunes.

It’s not Castlevania without Alucard, and the legendary son of Dracula appears in the form of an assist trophy.
