There are hundreds of phone/tablet games that can entertain us for hours. There are many different styles of games that use cute characters, bright colors, and music. A lot of time there isn’t much substance to these games other than just the value of entertainment. Gladius Studios, the top animation studio in the Caribbean, looked to change that with their recent release.

They recently released a music-generated and endless runner style game called, Ese Pobre Lechón (That Poor Pig). The free game looks to bring Puerto Rican and Latin Folklore to our phones. This is a milestone for the award-winning studio by becoming the first-ever music generated mobile game in the endless runner category.

Ese Pobre Lechón

Ese Pobre Lechón, showcases Latin holiday culture through the adventures of this little pig. He is on the run collecting folkloric musical instruments that are needed for a parranda (a party). Along with that, typical Latin Caribbean food items like tostones and mayo-ketchup. You can use these as currency to purchase and unlock new features including skins, avatars, and power-ups. It’s a fun game that showcases different types of Latin music including reggaeton and bachata.  The bright colors make it very inviting and you can help but want to keep running with the pig. If you fail he becomes part of dinner! But is that so bad?

With its release, LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with the chief creative officer for Gladius Studios, Yamil Medina. During our conversation, we talk about how this game came to life.
