Never knew video game characters can touch the hearts of many in a short film.

In Lost & Crowned from animation studio powerhouse PSYOP, the short film qualified for Oscar consideration this month.

Inspired by Supercell’s Clash of Clans universe video game property, Lost & Crowned showcases vibrant cinematics, visual effects, and animation. Not to mention, the short film has exemplary storytelling that’ll make you laugh and feel emotions.

The short film generated over 100 million online views to date since its debut in mid-September.

Here’s the official synopsis of the short film:

Lost & Crowned follows a serious, hardworking skeleton guard, Peter, and his relentlessly curious younger brother, Larry. When both are tasked with guarding the Red King’s crown, Larry can’t keep his hands to himself and delightful chaos ensues.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with writer/director Borja Peña Gorostegui and executive producer Amanda Miller.

Borja Peña Gorostegui is a Spanish director, who attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Over the years, he worked on high-end brands with PSYOP, incouding Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Supercell, Nintendo, Samsung, and Frito-Lay to name a few. Lost & Crowned is his debut animated short film.

Amanda Miller produced three seasons of the animated comedy Grandma’s Cats Are Trying to Kill Her for Dreamworks, and season six of Motionpoems. Coming next year, she produced the adult animated series Devil May Care for the Syfy Network with Doug Goldstein of Robot Chicken.
