Chris Hemsworth Is Done With Thor For Now

Actor Chris Hemsworth delivered some sad news while appearing on the Channel 7’s Sunrise program, saying that as it stands now, he is done playing the character of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“My contract’s coming to an end, we’ve just finished the last two AvengersWho knows what the future holds. We felt like we reinvented the last one in a big way. We might have a conversation if there’s another great script that comes along. But at the moment that’s it.”

Does this mean that Thor survives the Avengers films? Hemsworth being open to return as the character seems to imply that Thor makes it through the battle, of course, that is purely speculation.

It’s sort of a bummer that after the revitalization of the character in Ragnarok, we likely won’t be seeing any more of Hemsworth’s Thor outside of the two remaining Avengers films. Hopefully, Thor’s fun new attitude will carry over into those films, though with the film setup up to be an awe-inducing spectacle, there may not be much time for humor.

Hemsworth has now appeared as Thor in five Marvel films (uncredited in Doctor Strange), and will have appeared in seven by the time his contract is up.
