With Natalie Portman returning to the Thor franchise and taking up the mantle of Lady Thor in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, fans were left wonder what would become of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, it doesn’t appear as if he is going anywhere. During an interview with Elle, Hemsworth was very clear in saying he is sticking around the MCU for the time being. You can check it out below.
“Are you crazy ?! I’m not going into any retirement period (laughs). Thor is way too young for that. I’m only 1500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

Hemsworth also expressed his excitement for the script of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. You can find what he had to say below.
“After reading the script, I can say that I am very excited. For sure there will be a lot of love and a lot of lightning in this production (laughs). I’m glad that after all that happened in Avengers: Endgame, I’m still part of the Marvel Universe and we can continue the story of Thor. Of course, I can’t tell you anything about the plot, but to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll say that I had a lot more fun reading the script than on Thor Ragnarok, and that proves something, because this movie was brilliant.”
I am happy to hear this news, while I welcome Portman’s return and promotion, I really enjoy Hemsworth both as an actor and in the role of Thor. I am also really anxious for another Marvel adventure led by Taika Waititi.
Like many fans, I wasn’t big on the first two Thor films. I think Hemsworth’s casting was about as close to perfect as could be, but when put up against the rest of the MCU, the films were, just ok. However, the third film, Thor Ragnarok, was a breath of fresh air, it was fun, thoroughly entertaining and revitalized the franchise. With Taika Waititi back behind the camera, this toe should continue in Love and Thunder.
