Within the smorgasbord of Avengers and Marvel news, some interesting news from the DC world has broken through. While promoting his upcoming film Mission Impossible: Fallout, director Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) who is rumored to the the favorite to direct a sequel to Man of Steel, spoke with comicbook.com about ideas that were discussed between him and Mission Impossible: Fallout star, Henry Cavill, who also portrays Superman in the DC universe.

“Henry Cavill knows what it would be like. We had a a lot of time hanging out on set, and Henry’s a huge fan of Superman. I can’t help but talk story to people, so he told me his take on Superman and I thought it was really great, and I gave him my two cents. The tweet you’re referring to is somebody asked ‘Would you do it?’ and I said ‘Hey, they know where to find me.’ Nobody’s asked, but you know…”

McQuarrie may be just the right guy to give us an all around great Superman film. Perhaps something good will happen to the DC Universe from the whole mustache fiasco that led to Cavill’s odd looking face in Justice League. Cavill still has interest in playing Superman, so as rocky as the DCEU is, if Man of Steel 2 does ended up being made, at least we will have some consistency.
