Christian Bale In Talks To Join Thor: Love And Thunder

I’ll be honest, I thought Christian Bale was effectively out of the blockbuster game. He left his mark on the role of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy and even starred in films like Terminator Salvation, and it seemed as though, unless there was a REALLY good reason for it, that he’d stick to smaller and mid-budget productions for the duration of his career. But, I guess someone like him is always bound to impress and surprise us along the way.

According to Collider, Christian Bale is in talks to join Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth film in the superhero franchise. There are no details as to what his role would be, and Marvel has not commented on the news.

Thor: Love and Thunder sees Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi return to the director’s chair. Waititi made a splash in the franchise when he took it in a distinctly more comedy-focused direction, truly embracing the intergalactic goofiness of the Marvel comics along the way.

In addition to Waititi, Chris Hemsworth is returning as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Jane’s return is especially noteworthy, as she was absent from the last entry and expected to be all but gone from the MCU.

So, what can this film possibly offer the likes of Bale? We’ll have to wait and see, but this would be yet another feather in Marvel Studios’ cap of amazing acting talent to join their long-running superfranchise, and I doubt there’d be anyone out there whose interest wouldn’t at least be a little piqued by the proposition.
