After a back-and-forth and somewhat tense battle for Fox, CNBC is reporting that Comcast is unlikely to increase their previous bid and is bowing out of the competition with Disney to acquire most of Fox. According to the outlet’s sources, Comcast has moved their focus to buying Britain’s Sky television. Disney raised their bid from $52.4 billion to $71.3 billion, after Comcast topped Disney’s initial offer with a $65 billion-dollar counter offer.

This is of course good news for any comic book fans hoping that Disney would win the battle for Fox and be able to bring their estranged Marvel properties, such as The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, among others, home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not knowing much about what Marvel has planned for Phase 4, any plans currently in place will likely be adjusted to make room for the properties acquired in the Fox deal, or at least us fans hope they will.
With the MCU bringing in more and more cosmic elements, it’s not unreasonable to assume that the Silver Surfer and possibly even Galactus will be part of the expanded universe within the next few years. To be clear this is pure speculation on my part.
Rejoice nerds, it looks very likely that the MCU is going to get a lot bigger.
