Marvel’s PR machine has grown quite disciplined, and quite conservative ever since it became a Hollywood juggernaut. News and images from their films tend to roll out on their terms (unless El Mayimbe is around), and on a carefully planned schedule. I was just thinking yesterday that it’s funny how little we’ve heard from Marvel since their big “slate” reveal last month, considering they’re sitting on Avengers: Age of Ultron– a film that most are banking on being a box office titan next year.
But now, thanks to Instagram, we’ve gotten our hands- err…eyes- on a new image from the film’s promotional department. It gives us a nice, clear look at Vision, who will be played by Paul Bettany.
Bettany, of course, has all ready been the voice of JARVIS throughout Marvel’s Iron Man movies. The logical assumption, then, is that this cinematic incarnation of the character will be an extension of that AI character.
The design for Vision is probably amongst the most “comic book” of any of Marvel’s heroes so far, with most of the other characters getting a more sleek, more practical look. It’s clear that when it came to Vision, the designers for Age of Ultron are unabashedly embracing their comic roots, big yellow cape and all. I’m curious to see what reception the character will get, and how he will be portrayed on the big screen.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is only 5 months away.
