Over the weekend a new image of Iman Vellani in her Ms. Marvel costume made it’s way online. Fans have been praising this comic accurate Ms Marvel costume so far, what do you think? Here it is courtesy of Just Jared.

This really does look very much like the way Kamal Khan was suited in the comics. The suit does look kinda homemade, though I always had one issue with that. When Kamala stretches tall, why doesn’t her clothes stay at the same size and rip apart like Hulk? I know she could totally get a Stark or Wakandan suit which would allow us to forget that issue after a while. However, I do wonder whether they will just retcon it somehow that she can also stretch whatever she is wearing?

It’s hard for me to know what to expect from Ms. Marvel as it’s not a comic property that even existed in my day. I’ve said before my biggest exposure to Kamala’s story was the recent Marvel’s Avengers game and I liked what I did see. Obviously with Kamala coming to the MCU is have done some research on the character, but this still feels very new to me.
I’m also liking this look a lot more than the set photos we saw of Vellani wearing a Captain Marvel costume. I remember at the time thinking they had cast Khan too young as Vellani looked about 11 in those shots. Never judge a book by its cover I guess, because Vellani looks more her actual age in these shots. Vellani is 18/19 and she’s playing a character 1-2 year younger than that. It looks from this scene being shot like the crowd are oblivious to whatever threat Kamala is focused on. One would assume this may be closer towards the end of the series as I’m guessing Khan won’t suit up as Ms. Marvel right away.
