Corey Stoll And Billy Magnussen Join The Cast Of The Sopranos Prequel

It seems that with each passing day, additions are made the cast of the prequel to The Sopranos. The latest talent to join the family: Corey Stoll and Billy Magnussen.

Corey Stoll has made a career playing complex supporting characters in a number of projects, including Law & Order: LAHouse Of CardsAnt-ManDark Places and recently as Buzz Aldrin in the Damien Chazelle-directed First Man. Billy Magnussen has been seen in projects like Into The WoodsBridge Of SpiesThe Big ShortAmerican Crime Story: The People Vs O.J. Simpson and Netflix’s Maniac  alongside Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Their roles in the prequel have yet to be disclosed.

The project, The Many Saints Of Newark, has already attained the talents of Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Jon Bernthal (Marvel’s The Punisher) and Alessandro Nivola (The Wizard Of LivesAmerican HustleFace/Off), who is set to play Dickie Moltisanti. Dickie is the father of Christopher Moltisanti, played by Michael Imperioli in the original series. Dickie was an important figure to Tony Soprano, played by the late, great James Gandolfini, and is a big reason why Soprano is so close to Christopher.

The prequel will be set in the 1960s, during the Newark riots between African-Americans and Italian-Americans. David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos, will be writing and producing the project. There has been no word yet on a release date.
