Rumors are flying around the movie news world that claim to know the direction of Disney’s next Star Wars television show. With Star Wars Rebels coming to end, having just a handful of episodes left, something has to be ready to jump in and fill the void, right? According to the website Yakface, Disney has registered four trademarks under the brand Star Wars Resistance.

It certainly sounds likely that this could be one of the new television shows in development over at Lucasfilm. We’ve reported on them staffing up for another animated series in the past, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this would end up on their streaming service.

As most Star Wars fans know, the Rebellion is a reference to the original trilogy, and only since The Force Awakens have they been called the Resistance, so this could also tell us something about where the potential show would be set in the Star Wars timeline. Another question to bring up is live-action or another animated series?

While some of the films are truly fantastic, and they’re what made Star Wars, the animated series, The Clone Wars, and Star Wars Rebels are considered by many fans to be some of the best content the franchise has to offer. What is great about the medium of television is the show-runners can go so much more in-depth than they would be able to in a two-hour movie.

Now, this being a television show is wishful thinking on my part, it could just as easily be a comic book or a video game, hopefully it won’t be long until Lucasfilm confirms what this new Resistance is.
