With the awards season under, the Critics Choice Awards 2021 held virtually and in-person stage with its host Taye Diggs.
The film Nomadland and The Crown took in the most trophies for the night.
Searchlight Pictures’ Nomadland took the top prize with Best Picture as its filmmaker Chloe Zhao took Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
As for Netflix’s The Crown, the series has Gillian Anderson winning Best Supporting Actress for Drama as Margaret Thatcher. Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin won Best Actor and Best Actress in a Drama Series, respectively.
LRM Online staff favorite Apple+’s Ted Lasso won big as it took Best Comedy, while Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham garnered recognition for their performances. Maria Bakalova won Best Supporting Actress in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Carey Mulligan for Best Actress in Promising Young Woman. Andy Samberg’s Palm Springs got Best Comedy feature. Schitt’s Creek actors Catherine O’Hara and Daniel Levy won Best Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.
The highlight of the night went to Minari’s Alan Kim after winning Best Young Actor in a tearful speech as follows:

For those keeping scores, Netflix is the biggest winner of the night with 14 prices. Amazon Studios and Searchlight Pictures followed with 4 awards apiece.
