In a recent fan question and answer interview Daisy Ridley says she doesn’t know when her next Star Wars film is happening. We know that Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming movie from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. However no one is quote sure when that will begin production, not even Ridley herself it seems.

In the video below at the 03:10 timestamp Ridley is asked what she can say about the new Star Wars film. Her reply?

“I’m waiting to read the script. I know the story is amazing, I’m very excited too work with Sharmeen, I don’t know when it will be. Eh, so that’s all I know.”

Of course there are some details we know already officially through Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Kennedy said that the movie picks up 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. The Galaxy is sorting itself out and Rey is rebuilding the Jedi Order as she promised Luke she would do. Rey is using the books she took from Luke’s temple on Ach Too.

The movie was originally mapped out by Damon Lindelof. However, Lindelof left the project and last we heard Steven Knight had been asked to finalize it. The rumor is that Lindelof’s version had a much older Rey played by an older actress and was more focussed on her students. However Lucasfilm wanted to focus on Rey and keep using Ridley.

So far the only cast member we know is returning is Ridley. We’ve heard rumors that Lucasfilm wants Boyega in the movie also, but it remans to be seen whether he agrees. LRM‘s understanding was that the plan was to shoot the movie this year. However with the recent announcement of The Mandalorian and Grogu shooting this year, and no sign of a script, maybe that won’t happen?
