In the true spirit of the sport and the release of American Fighter today, two professional boxers, Daniel Gonzalez and Giovanni Scuderi, took the time to promote the film and give our audiences a boxing tutorial.
The film stars George Kosturos in the lead role as a young Iranian college wrestler Ali, who must enter underground fighting tournaments in order to raise money to get his mother out of Iran during the 1980s. Although, he showed promise, he lacked the skills and got bloody during one of the fights. A troubled handler Duke (played by Sean Patrick Flanery) takes pity on the boy and trains him to be a fierce competitor. However, a fight promoter (played by Tommy Flanagan) had other plans for the up and coming fighter. Will it be enough to make Ali a winner?
The film also stars Bryan Craig and Allison Paige.
