The Opioid Crisis killed more than 760,000 since 1999 from drug overdose with millions of Americans more receiving medication-assisted treatment. The once proclaimed “miracle drug” from Purdue Pharma with OcyContin was considered a savior for those in pain medically. However, the company’s exaggeration and hidden truths failed to warn the many sufferers about its addiction and the long-term effects. Executive producer and writer Danny writer showcased the opioid story in the limited series Dopesick on Hulu.

From the executive producer Danny Strong, Dopesick examines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. The series takes viewers to the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Big Pharma to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA. Defying all odds, heroes will emerge in an intense and thrilling ride to take down the craven corporate forces behind this national crisis and their allies. The limited series is inspired by New York Times bestselling book by Beth Macy.
The eight-episode series stars Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Pouter, John Hoogenakker, with Kaitlyn Dever and Rosario Dawson. Also, the guest stars included Phillipa Soo and Jake McDorman.

Danny Strong is an actor, film and television writer, and producer. He wrote the screenplays for Recount, HBO adaptation of Game Change, Lee Daniel’s The Butler, and the two-part finale of The Hunger Games film trilogy with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. Also, he is the co-creator, executive producer, and writer of the Fox series Empire. As an actor, he is best known for playing Jonathan Levinson in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doyle McMaster in Gilmore Girls.
Dopesick premieres today on the streaming service of Hulu.
