Dave Bautista Responds To Gears Of War Inquiries

Ever since embodying the character Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, Dave Bautista has become a fan favorite in the film industry. Like fellow pro wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bautista has also built a loyal following on social media, where he freely expresses his true feelings. Last summer, Bautista had no reservations in expressing his anger over the firing of James Gunn from Disney/Marvel—going as far as threatening to walk away from the MCU all together. Thankfully, that never happened and Gunn was rehired.

For some time now, fans of the Gears Of War video game franchise have been vocal about Bautista portraying the main character Marcus Fenix in a potential movie adaptation. While there has never been any confirmation of a film in the works, fans have continued to show their support. This lead to a response from Bautista himself through his Twitter account on Monday. The response is as follows:

Sadly, it seems no matter what he has tried, studios are currently a no-go on a Gears Of War movie franchise. The bright side of this is that Bautista is well aware of what his fans want and is actually willing to give them what they crave. He has evolved into a genuine entertainer who loves what he does, whether it is in front of a camera or in front of a sold out crowd. Here’s hoping that as his star continues to shine and his status rises in the business, someone will finally hear him (and the fans) out and make a film adaptation a reality.
