David Ayer Gives Bright 2 Update

Hey, remember that little movie a couple of years back made for nearly $100 million that hit Netflix? It was the most expensive film they’d made back then and seemed to be a statement that blockbusters weren’t restricted to the big screen. I’m talking about the urban fantasy film Bright, which saw two cops copping in a fantastical modern world full of magical creatures and races.

While critics didn’t love it, audiences took a liking to it, and at the time, it was one of the streamer’s more successful films to hit, solidifying a sequel in the works. So, what ever happened to that thing?

“Still in development,” Ayer said a TV Critics Association panel. “We’re working on it so hopefully we’ll be able to mount that up soon.”

“It’s a great opportunity for all of us to explore the world more,” Ayer continued. “I think people felt like there was a lot of doorways to explore. People were like, ‘Tell us about the dragon. Tell us about this, the history.’ So it’s a very rich world and I think we’re going to drill down some more.”

That’s very true. I will say, the world was the most interesting part of Bright, and like many, I thought the film kind of wasted it on a pretty uninteresting plot that kinda fell flat for me.

Hopefully, this sequel, whenever it hits, will be able to overcome the issues of the original. But what do you think? Do you want another Bright movie? Let us know down below!
