David Ayer Shares Concept For Parademons In Suicide Squad

Could have, should have, would have seems to be the theme looking back at some of the DC films that Warner Bros. Pictures released that were not very well received by audiences. But as time passes we have come to learn about all of the extensive changes that affected the film after the reception of 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. These changes even affected David Ayer’s Suicide Squad which was to be released a few months after BvS.

The biggest change, which has been explained by Ayer himself is that the original version of the film involved Enchantress. Played by Cara Delevingne, Enchantress was originally under the control of a Mother Box as she attempted to make a Boom Tube to open a doorway to Apokolips. But that was all scrapped and we got something a little more confusing. With that said, the design for the minions of Apokolips, the Parademons, have recently surfaced online, and Ayer confirmed that they were, in fact, supposed to appear in the film. More than likely, these Parademons would have taken the place of Enchantress’ monstrous army that the Suicide Squad ended up facing in the film. You can check out the concept designs below!

It has even been rumored that Steppenwolf was supposed to make an appearance in the film, but, at this point, who knows? What I like about this original idea is the thought of having the films tell the larger story of the coming of Darkseid, which no doubt would have affected everyone on the planet. I would be curious to know how the film would have concluded if this original story was not thrown out and how it would have led into Justice League. It seems like Warner Bros. was so close to something great, yet ended up so far away.
