I am a huge fan of the Nintendo franchise. The NES consumed a chunk of my childhood (and let’s be real, instilled perseverance and resilience in its gameplayers, seeing as NES games were on a different level of difficult and would try any little bit of patience we had). I still play the NES and SNES Classics which include the classics such as Castlevania, Simon’s Quest (NES) and Castlevania IV (SNES). Still one of my favorites in the franchise was Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. It was a new take being that it was a prequel following the adventures of Trevor Belmont, the relative of the future Simon Belmont. The game also featured other characters that you could play as including Sypha Belnades, Grant Danasty and Dracula’s very own son, Alucard.
In 2017 Netflix released the anime-style, adult animation Castlevania which consisted of only four episodes (what a tease). The show gained a strong reception in which Season 2 was then released in 2018 with eight episodes, and Season 3 is said to have 10 episodes! Fans have been waiting for any type of news regarding Season 3. Our hopes were raised, then quickly dashed, when a false report went out claiming that Season 3 would hit at the end of 2019. After that was debunked, Netflix did say that it would in fact be released in 2020 and have now released its first image including some new characters!
On the far right is Carmilla who fans should know as a boss seen multiple times in the video games as well as one of the villains from Season 2. The other characters in the image we actually do not know anything about yet. Are they good or evil? Looking at the image one would assume that if they are with Carmilla then the must be evil, but you never know where a character’s allegiance actually is when it comes to Castlevania.
