David Corenswet Rumored New Front Runner For Superman | Barside Buzz

According to a recent report Superman: Legacy is to film in March 2024, and we also have a new brief synopsis.

Well the Superman: Legacy Barside Buzz has been…tingling this weekend and it has David Corenswet rumored as the new front runner for Superman. We all knew that there were three candidates who went forward to in-person auditions. Corenswet was one of those three alongside Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney. However, the (mild)buzz this weekend from a few insiders was that Corenswet was the new hot favorite, maybe even locked in.

No one is claiming that 100% so far, so this is hardy a definite, but you can see a couple of social media posts I came across this weekend. Now, if you know me, you know I dislike random gifs hinting at something without ever directly claiming anything. Too easy to get out of. Yet, here is one I’m sharing anyway.

My issue with these is that it is easy to say afterwards that this was because he was one of the three names listed by trades. Ergo, he was closing in, until he wasn’t anymore. I’m not saying that’s what will happen here, and no offence to KC Walsh either by the way. I mean, I don’t get to decide how Twitter works and what works. It’s simply one of my own rumor preference filters buzzing away and annoying me. As with all rumors, if it checks out, then all good.

A few other insiders posted a few other cryptic eye emoji’s and things like that, but nothing truly solid to hang our hat on.

Another post I saw was from BSL. Check this one out.

It could well be, that BSL is just going off the most recent news that Corenswet, alongside Hoult and Brittney were the top choices. He did say this though.

Well, surely if it was down to three and the other two are not in consideration? I think rather than get into the weeds on this it’s best to have patience here. Is Corenswet the last man standing, is he the new Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman? I think we are just going to have to wait and see.

Thing is, since the tests happened already, my gut does tell me that Gunn and Safran have made decisions. If the decision has been made, then the actors will have already been informed. I’m therefore saying, it is possible this information could have leaked from one side or the other. Would I go so far as to call Corenswet the hot favorite? Not hot favorite, but If I was a bookmaker he is the guy I would have the shortest odds on for now, pending any new information. Would not be the gambler putting my money on it though.

As you can see from the related link above, we were also down to three candidates for Lois Lane. So far I’ve seen no rumors, or even teases as to which way that choice has gone. My guess is, that like the role of Superman, the Lois Lane choice has been made. James Gunn has already detailed that whilst the in person auditions will be sent to WB/B boss David Zaslav, it would be after he and Safran had already made the choice. That was five days ago, and the rumor at the time was that the decisions on both roles had been made and had been sent to Zaslav already.

Loads of guess work, loads of speculation, a little rumor and only factual part to this which is Gunn’s post from 5 days ago.

If, and I know it’s still a big if, David Corenswet is the rumored new front runner for Superman, what do you think? He looks the part to me, but until I see him/anyone in promotion for Superman: Legacy I won’t judge. As always, leave any thoughts below.
