I didn’t realize how long it’s actually been since we’ve had a David O. Russell feature. Following his work on The Fighter back in 2010, we had a new movie from him every year-and-a-half or so, including critical darlings like Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Joy, all of which starred Jennifer Lawrence, and one of which starred the great Christian Bale.
But it’s been a solid seven or so years since Russell teamed up with Bale, and if you’ve been itching to see them work together again, you may not have long to wait. Deadline is reporting that Russell has written a film that he will direct, and it will star Bale.

The film is happening at New Regency through a deal with Fox/Disney, and while we don’t know what it’s going to be about, it is supposedly eyeing an April start date. In addition to Bale, this movie is expected to have a strong supporting cast, though that’s likely due to the attractiveness of Bale and Russell.
