Today’s Barside Buzz is all about DC’s ReevesVerse as Sebastian Stan is not playing Harvey Dent in The Batman Part II, plus no Season 2 of The Penguin. The information all comes from industry insider Jeff Sneider on his latest The InSneider newsletter.
Whilst no insider has a 100% hit rate, even the trades, I do find Sneider to be one of the most consistent and in today’s rumors he has some back up.
Sneider says he’s heard despite reports even he himself had made previously, Sabastian Stan is NOT playing Harvey Dent in The Batman Part II. Instead Sneider claims that Stan is playing killer Victor Zsasz in the film. Meanwhile actor Brian Tyree Henry is the one who is playing Harvey Dent.
Sneider also had some other details about The Batman Part II, or adjacent to it. He suggests that the Court of Owls are involved in the plot of the movie. Also, that Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance both play a fusion of different comic characters in the film, no specifics.
Finally, and I’m not sure whether it’s disappointing news or not, Sneider says The Penguin Season 2 will NOT be moving forward at HBO. I’m not sure, because Season 1 was awesome and on the surface it feels like Season 2 should be greenlit. Then again, the showrunners and producers all said they would explore the story potential, but if they didn’t have a great idea to match Season 1 they would not move forward. Only last week I wrote about how a Season 2 was starting to look promising, oh well.

Therefore, it seems like they didn’t have a good enough idea and perhaps it’s then best we don’t move forward with a Season 2. I think for Reeves the most important thing is making Part II a success so he gets to finish off his trilogy in Part III. May be best not to keep expanding this ReevesVerse when Batman is also coming to the DCU. More on that in our next article today.
Lastly we have another reliable insider ViewerAnon backing up Sneider’s claims.
Because he gets conflicting information and his income depends on "breaking" things daily. And I heard all the same Batman Part II stuff he reported on independently from him, he certainly wasn't fibbing about Dent or believing Stan was playing him. Even the trades were fooled.
