UPDATE: The co-writer of Deadpool 2, Rhett Reese, has taken to Twitter to debunk this latest casting rumor with one simple word. Our apologies for not catching this post before making our initial story live.

It seems we have another rumored actress to take the role of Domino (aka Neena Thurman) in the upcoming Deadpool 2 movie, coming off the heels of Kerry Washington recently being considered. The frontrunner now appears to be Janelle Monáe, who I described as an actress we should expect quite a bit more of in the future, in my Oscar nominations picks. She was in the Oscar winning movie for Best picture, Moonlight, and she was in Hidden Figures which was also nominated. This might actually be our beloved Domino, and I for one would be completely in favor of.

But, if you aren’t that familiar with comics, you may be wondering just who is Domino. She is almost always on X-Force, and can pretty much be found by Deadpool’s side at all times, and even moreso near Cable, as they have had a frequent romantic relationship. More recently they are working together to stop the X-Men vs. Inhumans war. Her powers are similar to Rose Wilson’s (Deathstroke’s daughter in DC) perception powers (retconned from being able to see a few seconds in the future) but they are based mostly on luck — that she is always on the “good luck” side of.

One can assume that Monáe would also be in the X-Force movie, which is a team mutants willing to do whatever it takes to serve the needs of mutantkind, including killing. Many members have joined over the years, but my favorite version usually has Deadpool, Wolverine, Domino, Archangel, and Cable in it. We still have a long way to go before we see that film, but I am possibly more excited for X-Force over Deadpool 2, as we will likely get to see our first Marvel R-Rated full teamup.

Thanks to comicbook.com for this memory refresher, but during an early run of X-Force, Domino was impersonated by Copycat who is actually Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) from the Deadpool movie. Vanessa has not yet been labeled a mutant, but I could see the creators drawing this storyline from the books.

Very little is known about Deadpool 2 yet, as there is no official synopsis, and the only listed cast member is Ryan Reynolds. David Leitch will direct the movie, considering he maintains the fact that Ryan Reynolds will likely have all creative control, and Drew Goddard is writing the script — ditto on the creative control to Reynolds. It is set to drop on March 2, 2018.

What do you guys think? Would this be a good fit for Domino? I still want to know who you think would make a good Cable! Let us hear from you below!
