Deadpool 2 Director David Leitch On The Differences Between The First Film And The Sequel

After Deadpool’s success at the box office, most fans knew there would be a sequel. Deadpool 2’s production began with creative differences between Ryan Reynolds and director of the original film, Tim Miller. Word is Reynolds wanted to keep the budget roughly the same as the first film, while Miller wanted to bulk up and really go big. This disagreement led to Miller leaving the film and Davi Leitch taking the reins. Leitch recently spoke with Fandango and talked about the differences between the first Deadpool and the upcoming sequel:

“We wanted to make sure that it was worthy of a summer tentpole movie, and we knew we were going to be wedged in between some big films. We did our best to expand the action, and in a general sense, just make it bigger. In terms of the tone, and the fun and the DNA of a Deadpool movie, you’re going to get everything you expect and more.”

Well, for fans of the character, that is pretty much all they want. More action, more vulgar hilarity, and perhaps most of all, more of Deadpool’s certain kind of charm and heart. As long as those elements are present, along with the new characters, who look like they will fight nicely into the fold, Deadpool 2 should be a success, both with financially and with fans.
