Deadpool 3 And Echo May Be Delayed On Disney’s New Slate

Filmmaker and director of X-Men: First Class Matthew Vaughn thinks Deadpool 3 will 'save' the MCU, is he right?

It’s looking like both Deadpool 3 and Echo may be delayed. Neither project appeared where they were supposed to in Disney’s new slate. That new slate was shown as Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke earlier this week to investors. Echo had been schedule to appear on Disney+ this year, and no longer appears on the 2023 slate. Additionally, Deadpool 3 was supposed to release in 2024, and now no longer appears on that slate either. Check out both social media posts about each project below.

There are back links within to the source of this information. But here is a link to the PDF Disney made public.

As we know, Deadpool 3 filming was underway until the actors strike shut production down. Therefore, it makes sense the movie could slip because filming has been delayed. Echo however, is a completely different story. Echo wrapped filming, what seems like an age ago. However, after suffering delays already, the show was reduced to 5 episodes and set for release all in one go this year. In other words, there is no reason for the show to be delayed due to the strikes. Well, unless it has to do with marketing for the series? As you likely know, actors cannot promote works they have completed during the strike, or they’re breaking picket lines. Perhaps Disney has decided this hurt Secret Invasion? Though, I’d be more inclined to blame that on bad writing if it was me.

No delay has been made officially for either project, but there is no smoke without fire. Remember, we knew about the massive delay that was coming to the entire Marvel slate months before Disney announced it. I guess we may just have to wait for some official updates. The next Disney+ series was always Loki Season 2, but Echo was supposed to arrive after that towards the tail end of the year.

Maybe Echo getting delayed is merely a result of the current slow down process happening within the MCU? It may have nothing to do with the strikes themselves.

Well, it’s looking like both Deadpool 3 and Echo may be delayed. Did you take a look at what’s different on Disney’s new slate? What do you think of these delays? Thoughts below as always.
