According to a new report Deadpool 3 misses it’s May 2024 slot in theatres. However, it’s possible Captain America: Brave New World may take it. This is the news reported by Deadline recently and it matches the little rumors we have been hearing regarding Deadpool 3. As you can see from director Shawn Levy’s comments in the related article below, the date was in doubt. For now we still await a conclusion to the SAG-AFTRA strikes and until that happens Deadpool 3 can’t continue filming.

Here is what the trade had to say.

‘In one of the first major blows to the 2024 theatrical release schedule due to the ongoing actors strike, sources tell us that Marvel Studios‘ Deadpool 3 won’t be making its May 3 start-of-summer theatrical release date. Even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, a 2024 restart on the half-finished Deadpool 3 would not get the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman threequel to a May opening date.’

‘There’s just too much to do in regards to re-assembling crew, etc. Note, this is just the beginning for 2024 titles; other studios have yet to play the game of three-card monte with their most notable films that are in positions similar to Deadpool 3.’

However, interestingly there could be another contender. Deadline also suggests there is a possibility Captain America: Brave New World could move up and take that May 3rd slot. Principal was already finished on Brave New World as far as we know prior to the strikes.

‘There is a long shot, per sources, that Captain America: Brave New World, which originally was set for May 3 and then was pushed to July 26, actually moves back because it’s in better shape than Deadpool 3, having finished production.’

Now you may see some claims online that this is happening and the dates have been switched by Disney. However, this is actually due to the fact Brave New World was originally planned for May 3rd, 2024. Ergo, Disney had not yet updated it’s schedule as per the most recent slew of delays. Since these claims began surfacing, Disney has now gone and changed it’s website to July 26th. So no, it has not happened already, but this does not rule out it happening before long either. It’s a possibility for now and nothing more folks as per Deadline, who refer to it as a long shot.

So, Deadpool 3 misses it’s May 2024 slot in theatres. However, it’s possible Captain America: Brave New World may take it. Though, I would say it seems like a long shot at the moment. What do you think of this news? Thoughts below as always.
