We have a description of the footage shown of Highlander to audiences at CinemaCon, plus some set photos showing filming of historical scenes. Let’s begin with the footage shown yesterday to audience in attendance at CinemaCon.

Highlander is a reimagining of the classic movie of the same name from director Chad Stahelski. It stars Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod, Karen Gillan as Heather MacLeod, Russell Crowe as Ramirez and Dave Bautista As The Kurgan.

As per THR,

‘Cavill introduced the first footage in a video segment: “We are only halfway through production but already feel we are creating something truly special.”

The footage includes Cavill declaring, “I am Connor MacLeod, who was born in 1518, and I am immortal.”

Later, Bautista’s character warns Cavill, “When my sword changes history, you will have a front row seat, Highlander.” This leads Cavill to reply, “All right, if you say so.”

The footage ended with a montage of various character promising, “There can be only one.”’

Not a huge amount to chew over, but they are only halfway through filming. As you will also see if you click link below, the production is currently filming the historical scenes set in ancient Scotland with Cavill and on screen wife Karen Gillan.

The original film’s love story centred on Connor staying young whilst Heather grew old and eventually died. The scenes became the inspiration for classic Queen song Who Wants to Live Forever. We’d guess Connor will have to go through this heartbreak again before possibly finding love again in the modern world.

I cannot share the images, but if you click on this instagram link for The Herald and have an insta account you can view several images showing Gillan, Cavill and extras on set.

I like everything I have seen so far from this Highlander reboot. When I was a kid and watched Highlander I was captivated. Maybe it was the Scottish thing, but I think I just liked immortals decapitating each other with samurai swords. However, even as a youngster I could see the pitch/idea for Highlander was far superior to the actual product we received. Let’s see if this new version matches that potential?

Let us know what you think of this Highlander footage description, or the historical set photos from current filming?
