Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Holds Out Hope Hugh Jackman Will Return As Wolverine

Ryan Reynolds may never completely leave Hugh Jackman alone in his pursuit of getting Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen together. His pursuit is something like Pepe LePew’s courtship of Penelope. Jackman has been very clear on his future as Wolverine, he’s done.

As it turns out, Reynolds isn’t the only one holding out hope. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld would also love to see Jackman return as the character. Check out what he had to say while speaking with Inverse below.

“I’m stuck on Hugh Jackman. Having met Hugh, having loved Hugh, there is only Deadpool because of Wolverine… I was doing Deadpool [in the comics] to get to Wolverine. Wolverine was always the goal. I can’t answer the question on Wolverine, I’m stuck on Hugh Jackman. I hope to God he comes back, I do. He’s been seriously firm that he’s not going to be Wolverine, and I foolishly don’t believe him.”

There’s always a chance, however small it may be. I point to the fact that not long ago there was a time when none of us ever thought we’d see any new (live-action) original Star Wars content, and look at what we have now.

If Jackman ever does give in and return, it likely won’t be much more than a quick cameo, similar to what we got in the after-credits scene of Deadpool 2. While it might be enough to melt the brains of nerds around the world, a film co-starring Reynolds as Deadpool and Jackman as Wolverine is about as likely as the government confirming Bob Lazar did indeed work on alien spacecraft at Area 51.

Will Jackman ever return as Wolverine? Let us know your thoughts down below!
