Hulu series Only Murders in the Building is one of the most successful shows on the streaming service that keeps you guessing. Riding on that tide, Hulu placed bets on another mystery-murder series with Death and Other Details.
Although with fewer notable stars, the series has an interesting hook that anyone on a cruise ship is a murderer and cannot get off until it is solved.
Violette Beane (God Friended Me, The Flash) and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland, The Princess Bride) lead the ensemble cast as a suspect, and a washed-up world-known detective must team up to solve a murder despite their personal qualms with each other.
The rest of the cast includes Lauren Patten (Blue Bloods), Rahul Kohli (iZombie), Angela Zhou (Promising Young Woman), Hugo Diego Garcia (Tony), Pardis Saremi (Chapel), and Linda Emond (Only Murders in the Building).
Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams serve as showrunners and executive producers.
Here is the official synopsis:
Set amidst the glamor of the global elite, Death and Other Details centers on the brilliant and restless Imogene Scott (Violett Beane), who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time (okay, it was kinda her fault) and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. The setting? A lavishly restored Mediterranean ocean liner. Suspects? Every pampered guest and every exhausted crew member. The problem? To prove her innocence, she must partner with a man she despises—Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), the world’s greatest detective.
