Alejandro Brugues brings together a few of the brightest Latin cinema filmmakers in Satanic Hispanics to create an anthology of five short films. Among them is Demián Rugna, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Eduardo Sánchez, Mike Mendez and Alejandro Brugués. Rugna introduces the lost soul that is brought from the other side thanks to a light formula and Sánchez brings the classic dracula story.
When police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos, and only one survivor. He’s known as The Traveler (Efren Ramirez, “Napoleon Dynamite”), and when they take him to the station for questioning he tells them those lands are full of magic and talks about the horrors he’s encountered in his long time on this earth, about portals to other worlds, mythical creatures, demons and the undead. Stories about Latin American legends.
The Argentinian screenwriter and director Demián Rugna studied acting. Today Rugna is known in the horror genre. We know him from The Last Gateway, You Don’t Know Who You’re Talking To and Terrified. His next film is scheduled to be released next month, When Evil Lurks.
The creator of Eduardo Sánchez is known for directing films and television. Some of his popular projects include The Blair Witch Project, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, V/H/S/2 and Exists. One of his last projects was seen in Prime Video The Horror of Dolores Roach.
I was connected with Demián Rugna And Eduardo Sánchez to discuss their participation in Hispanic Satanic. They both talked about Alejandro Brugues making this project happen and Brugues almost close to not making it and why. In addition to discussion their own short story and a little fun about connecting to someone from the afterlife and more!
Satanic Hispanics kicks off the start of Hispanic Heritage in theaters September 14, 2023. You can purchase your tickets here!
