A Destiny 2 glitch fix is finally due to release today, the question is, will this work? On Monday we shared details of a crazy weekend on Destiny 2. Players discovered a glitch that allowed weapons to be crafted which developer Bungie never intended. The result was that these OP guns dominated every mode in D2 this past weekend.
A temporary fix was put in place on Monday. However, on the player side, it was not much of a fix. As someone who crafts all available guns I can, and who has the crafting patterns for every gun in the game (outside of this season’s Raid), that means the vast majority of my arsenal simply does not work correctly. Bungie disabled the perks and frames causing most issues with these glitch crafted weapons. However, those are also the most popular perks to have on legally crafted weapons. Meaning those weapons are now left unusable.
Using non-crafted weapons will still work as before. However, I tend to not keep as many of those, because I have crafted ones instead. Initially Bungie said a second, lasting fix would come, which would turn all illegal crafted weapons into legal versions. Thus allowing us to use our legally acquired arsenal again. Sadly, that took longer than expected, but it is coming later today.
UPDATE: With the 7.2.0.4 update tomorrow, weapon crafting will largely go back to expected behaviors. Illegitimate frames and perks on crafted weapons will be replaced with legitimate ones and any attempt to craft new out-of-bounds weapons will kick the player to the login… https://t.co/4PuTJnYFoF

I would expect this update to drop at the usual reset time, which is 6pm GMT, 1pm ET, 10am PT. The question is will it work? My guess is, there is no way to completely prevent this glitch from occurring, for now. Hence, this new measure where any attempt to craft an illegal weapon will boot you to login. I guess I’m just not sure how that will actually work in practice and have they truly tested this? I guarantee you the community will try on a mass scale. Therefore, if there is some way around the boot to login punishment, it will be found and exploited.
Even after the temporary measure put in place, some gamers already worked out new combinations that were almost as broken as before the fix. The use of these is far less widespread as the crafting glitches are trickier to pull off. However, the point is that I’m not sure Bungie should have bothered with the temp fix. They already delayed release of the Master Raid as you can see above, so why not just wait till a full fix was in place?
Here’s hoping things get back to normal, and I certainly feel sorry for the devs who have had to work OT and weekends to try and get this glitch resolved. Best thing is, it’s rumored to have been possible for the last 2 years, just no one accidentally came across it before.
So, a Destiny 2 glitch fix is finally due to release today, the question is, will this work? I guess we will know more by later today. Share any thoughts you have below.
