Martian Manhunter in the Justice League? Yes, please. 

Immediately following the release of Justice League, Zack Snyder was fairly quiet. However, in the years that followed, he grew louder and louder as he pushed for the Snyder Cut of his film. In the months leading up to said cut, he revealed all sorts of plot details and Easter eggs that his movie had. One such Easter egg revolved around the beloved superhero Martian Manhunter. 

Snyder hinted that General Swanwick, played by Harry Lennix, was none other than J’onn J’onzz. And by hinting, I mean flat-out revealing it. The reveal came last October via his Vero account. In it, he shared a storyboard of Martha Kent and Lois Lane having coffee at Lois’ home. After leaving, Martha Kent transforms into J’onn J’onzz. You can check out the image for yourself.

Of course, Justice League vets may realize that that scene never happened. Instead, we got a scene at the Daily Planet office, where Martha accidentally calls Lois “thirsty.” There was no General Swanwick to be seen in this scene at all. In the recent trailer for the Justice League Snyder Cut, however, there were a few shots that may look familiar

As you can see above, we have a scene that may actually be from that storyboarded scene. If so, it’s logical to reason that we may be getting some hot Martian Manhunter on Swanwick action in the Justice League Snyder Cut. As far as whether or not J’onn will actually be incorporated into the plot in a meaningful way… I can only hope so. 

Then again, given that Justice League was originally going to lay the groundwork for a second film, I can see that scene as a tease for the next film. Unless there’s some miracle, we won’t be getting to see that second film from Snyder, so I’d at least hope he’d close some of those unnecessary doors. If we can’t see this grand vision come to completion, I’d rather not be teased.
