There was a Battlestar Galactica Easter egg in The Mandalorian Chapter 9. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment form the very start of last week’s debut Season 2 episode. As Mando is walking through the streets in the beginning of the ‘The Marshall’ we see a lot of graffiti on the walls. You can make out the odd Stormtrooper easily enough, but did you spot the Cylon also? If not, check it out below, (or above as well if you are viewing this on mobile).
I didn’t spot this myself of course, instead I saw the image highlighted over on ComicBook.com and sourced the image from there. The image is easily unnoticed whilst watching the show. Therefore, some eagle eyed fan either spotted this first time around, or decided to check out all the images on slow motion.

It’s a fun little nod, and let’s face it, the two franchises are connected. There would be no Battlestar Galactica if it was not for the popularity of the original Star Wars movie in 1977. BSG First hit screens in 1979, before The Empire Strikes Back was released. There was then a BSG sequel series in the ’80’s, followed by a complete reboot in 2004 to critical acclaim. There’s more Battlestar Galactica on the way also. There’s a new BSG TV series being developed. However, Simon Kinberg is also guiding a movie version soon. There is no indication these projects are connected so that could get a little confusing.
Star Wars is it’s own thing, but Easter eggs like this are fun for us fans to notice. However, don’t expect the Cylons to show up in Star Wars anytime soon. Disney don’t have rights to the BSG IP, so a bit of graffiti is about as much as they’ll get away with. Did you notice the Battlestar Galactica Easter egg in The Mandalorian Chapter 9?
